You might think that Wajima lacquerware requires special care, but in fact, it should be treated no differently than other bowls or plates. Simply wash it with your regular dish soap and dry it on a rack. After washing, we recommend wiping off any excess water.
Wajima lacquerware is sensitive to drying, so a humid environment is required to maintain its lustrous luster. Because the air close to the ground is humid, we recommend storing it in a low place rather than on a high shelf. You can also purchase it as a decorative item, but as it will last longer in a humid environment, we recommend using it occasionally to allow it to absorb moisture.

Since "washoku" was designated an intangible cultural heritage in 2013, it has been attracting attention from all over the world. Sake brewing has been popular in the Hokuriku region, known for its rice production, for a long time, and here on the Noto Peninsula, local sake is produced that is shippednationwide.
The "Sousou" sake cupis an arrangement of the traditional traditional shape handed down from ancient times, andwehavecarefully considered the drinking surface to make it even more delicious to drink sake. The base, with its many layersoflacquer, gently greets the lips and directly conveys the quality of the sake.
Lacquerware has the effect of mellowing the flavor of the drink, allowing you to experience the aroma and taste in a way that has not been possible withprevioussakevessels.

Changes in taste
In case of an emergency, only ceramic items naturally gathered, and there were no easy-to-use sake cups that I liked in terms of material or shape.
When developing "Soso," Taya Lacquerware Shop considered how the taste of the same sake would change, and tried comparing different local sakes in sake cups made from different materials.
The five of us drank using five different types of sake cups:Edo Usuhari, Satsuma Kiriko, Bizen ware, Hasami ware, and Wajima lacquerware.
The results of the comparison were contrary to expectations.
Since it's the same local sake, I thought there would be a big difference in the taste even though the material of the cup was different, but the taste impression was subtly different.
The Satsuma Kiriko ware gives off a rich flavor, the Bizen ware gives off a wild taste, and the Wajima lacquerware gives off a mellow taste.
Eachtype of alcohol enters the body in a different way, with Wajima lacquerware seeming to penetrate the body the slowest.
It was an eye-opening experience to discover the subtle depth of sake, which changes over time.
Incidentally, the five of us had different opinions on which sake cup was best to drink from, and we couldn't come to a conclusion.
