We have carried on the beautiful way of life in this country.
Since the Jomon period, lacquer has been part of Japanese life. At Taya Lacquerware, we transform this lacquer into beautiful, functional vessels crafted by hand and delivered to our customers. Cherishing the aesthetic sensibility and dignity that live within Japanese daily life, we will continue to contribute to society through Wajima lacquerware.
PRODUCT
"Daily vessels" that never go out of style, possessing beauty and elegance
Japan is home to many wonderful traditional crafts that are the pride of the world.
Wajima lacquerware, in particular, boasts a beauty born from its precise and delicate techniques and practicality. As you know, lacquer and lacquerware are symbols of Japan and the Japanese people. Our Wajima lacquerware products truly embody traditional Japanese crafts.
Taya Lacquerware has continued to evolve its designs to meet the needs of its customers. Taya Lacquerware was founded in an era when there were no railways. Finished products were transported over the mountains on foot. When the railways were opened, it took an entire day to transport products from the Kanto region to the Tokai region.
In 1988, former president Tsutomu Taya incorporated Taya Lacquerware. This expanded our reach into department stores in addition to our traditional sales channels. Under our current president, we are constantly incorporating new trends and developing products that emphasize practicality. We offer a wide range of products, from traditional lacquerware like bowls, plates, and chopsticks to stationery and interior decor. Our products are designed to be used, repaired, and passed down through generations. This is why we create environmentally friendly, special products. Even lacquerware from other stores can be carefully repaired and restored to its original luster by our skilled artisans, regardless of region. Taya Lacquerware will continue to thrive in the field of traditional craftsmanship while also working to develop more practical and environmentally friendly Wajima lacquerware products.
